Mallory Baches

Mallory Baches is the Director of Strategic Development at the Congress for the New Urbanism, with over twenty years of experience working at the intersection of urban design and community development. She began her career with Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company, leading firm in new urbanist design, development and implementation practices. Evolving from her international work for the firm, she became a founder of its first affiliate office, DPZpacific, overseeing new urbanist work across the pan-Pacific region.

She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Science in Sustainable Urban Development from the University of Oxford. She is accredited with the American Planning Association (AICP), the U.S. Green Building Council (LEED-AP), and the Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU-A). She was named a member of the 2013 Next Urban Vanguard class by Next City, and is a former board member and former President of the Association for Community Design. Her research on historic preservation and social sustainability can be found in New Urban Research, and her urban design work has been featured by Next City.
